The day started out early as Jamie and I got up at 4:00 AM to get to the hospital in time for the planned C-Section. It was a rough night for her as she had been having mild labor pains starting Monday afternoon. Unlike Hannah's delivery, where Jamie was still going strong when we went to the hospital, she was more than ready to get the pregnancy over with when we checked in.
We've been through the drill before, so nothing unexpected happened. Jamie got all doped up, and I got on my ridiculous outfit so I would match all the other people in the room with their ridiculous outfits.
A couple of slices and snips later, they were pulling my new son out of his hideout. He didn't put up a fight, but just cried like a baby. I was able to film the operation, as with Hannah's, but I probably won't post the video on this site. Sorry. However it comes in very handy because I can show it to Jamie later when she is recovering and before they're done with the baby. That's when we chose his name. We had been kicking around a few names, but this one had been with us for the last week.
They brought us Peter after a few hours and we spent the rest of the morning with him. So far, he is very sweet and quiet, but we'll see how his temperament changes after we know him for more than a few hours.
For those who are interested in such things, he was 8 lbs. 8 oz. poundwise, measured 20 inches lengthwise, and was born at 7:06 AM.
